Police are still continuing the search for Sky Metalwala, 2-year-old boy from Bellevue, WA who was reported missing Sunday morning (see previous blog for more details). Authorities say that they are encouraging people to call with any information that they might have, even if they believe it to be insignificant. At this time, they are receiving no calls and are beginning to worry. It is weird that the police found no gas anywhere near Biryukova’s car (the mom). It is even weirder that Sky’s mother has refused a polygraph test on more than one account. Although both parents are cooperating with the investigation, signs are beginning to point towards them for foul play. Bellevue Police Major Mike Johnson told reporters that they are suspecting foul play as nothing about the story is adding up. He also stated, “You’d think that someone that is as close to a family as a mother is would be willing to do anything and everything to solve this case” (Bellevue.patch.com). It is true; why isn’t Sky’s own mother doing everything in her power to bring him home safe? But if she was a part of his disappearance, why did she report Sky missing? Officer Johnson is right, nothing about this story adds up. I also learned in this article that the mother might have some mental illnesses and had been having dreams about killing her children. On her defense, she said that her husband posed threats to harm her on many occasions. If they want to have a marital dispute, fine, but their children never should’ve been involved. I hope that Sky is found alive and taken away from this family. There are many people that would protect him and love him unconditionally.
The author of this seems to have a bias and is taking the side of the child. What is good about this author’s technique is that he/she provided a short recap of what the previous story talked about. This helps to refresh readers’ memories of what happened and how they felt about it. The writer also began each paragraph with a different sentence structure, keeping up with the flow of the article. The writer did a good job convincing me of the possibility of foul play.
